There was something extra special in the air at our school these past few days…
In a few weeks, it will be Independence Day, a special and festive occasion in Gambia when schools from each region come together to parade, play sports, and compete in friendly competitions.
Not all children are allowed to participate that day. A select group is chosen from each school to represent their school—which makes it extra exciting. Participating is an honor, and the children are giving it their all this week.
That is why preparations have officially started at school.
This week the children will practice and compete in various disciplines, and they will do so in four colorful teams:
Team Yellow
Team Green
Team Blue
Team Red
What makes it so beautiful?
It's not just about competition, but above all about fun, camaraderie, and encouragement. The smiling faces, the enthusiasm, and the teamwork make every practice day a little celebration.
In the coming days we will take you step by step:
the teams, the games, the sporting challenges and the atmosphere at school.
This is just the beginning…
Be sure to stay tuned — Independence Day is coming!
