At Safi vzw we believe that giving to others not only changes their lives, but also enriches ours. Our team in Belgium is committed to giving children at the Seidemann school in Gambia a better future. We provide them with their basic needs, such as education and care – things that we take for granted, but make a world of difference to them.
Our team consists of passionate volunteers who work together to build a sustainable organization and promote global citizenship. We engage in fundraising and support local initiatives, always in close consultation with the Seidemann school and the community in Gambia.

The Claeijs family – Ivo & Tamara, Matisse & Aïsha
As founders of the non-profit organization Safi, Ivo and Tamara are the beating heart of the organization.
They are committed to the daily fundraising, the development of a sustainable operation, global citizenship education and the sponsorship program.
Also son Matisse and daughter Aisha are often present as helping hands during actions and activities.
A true family project, carried out with love and conviction.
Inge
Since December 2023, Inge has been a member of the board of the non-profit organization Safi.
If nurse of years of experience in development cooperation in Gambia, she is responsible for the follow-up of the sponsored children and the health policy at school.
With her caring approach and knowledge of the local field, she is a tremendous asset to our team and to the children of the Seidemann School.
Marinko & Marie-Paule
Since January 2024, Marie-Paule and Marinko have been enthusiastically part of the non-profit organization Safi.
As real creative jack-of-all-trades They jump in everywhere, help out where necessary and actively think along behind the scenes.
In addition, they are committed to the fundraising through the sale of fair trade products.

Team Seidemann Nursery School
- They determine the direction, because they know best what the needs are and how they can be addressed most effectively.
- They come up with the ideas; we listen, give advice and together we draw up a step-by-step plan to achieve the goals.
- We provide the necessary financial resources, but the implementation is the responsibility of the school in collaboration with the parent committee and the local community.
- The daily financial, administrative and operational management of the school is the responsibility of the local management. We only offer advice in this regard.
