At Safi vzw we believe that giving to others not only changes their lives, but also enriches ours. Our team in Belgium is committed to giving children at the Seidemann school in Gambia a better future. We provide them with their basic needs, such as education and care – things that we take for granted, but make a world of difference to them.
Our team consists of passionate volunteers who work together to build a sustainable organization and promote global citizenship. We engage in fundraising and support local initiatives, always in close consultation with the Seidemann school and the community in Gambia.

Together we offer many children a piece of the future by providing for their basic needs – something that is self-evident to us, but not to them.
And no, we do not do this without our own interests.
By giving, we not only make others happy, but also ourselves.
Claeijs family
- Ivo & Tamara are the founders and respectively Chairman of the Board of Directors and Secretary of Safi vzw
- They are responsible for fundraising and building a sustainable organization, promoting global citizenship education and starting up the sponsored children program
- Son Matisse and daughter Aïsha provide support as helping hands in organizing activities.
Other volunteers
- Isabelle: Co-founder and creative all-rounder, responsible for fundraising through Fair Trade sales.
- Inge: Director since December 2023, responsible for the follow-up of the sponsored children and the health policy at school.

Team Seidemann Nursery School
- They determine the direction, because they know best what the needs are and how they can be addressed most effectively.
- They come up with the ideas; we listen, give advice and together we draw up a step-by-step plan to achieve the goals.
- We provide the necessary financial resources, but the implementation is the responsibility of the school in collaboration with the parent committee and the local community.
- The daily financial, administrative and operational management of the school is the responsibility of the local management. We only offer advice in this regard.
